       What Is A Doula?

The word ‘Doula’ comes from ancient Greek, meaning ‘A Woman Who Serves.’ A Doula loves, nurtures and protects birthing people and their families by providing informational, physical, and emotional support. Doulas help to reduce anxiety, emotionally holding the space, enabling birthing people to relax, let go and allow their body to do what it instinctively needs to.

Doulas today restore the traditions of women circles, supporting birthing people in childbirth and the postpartum period. Doulas recognize, a mother who is nurtured and loved, bonds effortlessly and deeply with the baby which protects future generations to love and trust in one another.

“Being a doula is the loving art of mothering the new mother and supporting the family. Traditionally women were cared for in the loving arms of the women of their own families and tribes as they made the miraculous journey, of bringing a baby to earth” – Robin Lim
